Sometimes clicking the color popup doesn't work due to technical issues around the browser extension. There are some ways to fix this: refreshing the page, switching tabs, right-click highlight, etc. Sorry for the inconvenience... We are constantly improving the browser extension.
Please try one or some of the followings (more)

As of March 22, 2022, we don't have the private mode function. This is because of our mission, which is to democratize access to other people's learning and experiences as their utilitarian legacy.
We will have the private mode at some point for sure. For instance, when we cover other media formats like books, we will have the private mode due to the copyright issue. Democratizing access doesn't mean that we can break the rule and jeopardize the publisher or content creator's revenue. (more)

Kei Watanabe | Updated March 23, 2022 Why I CAN'T use Glasp at some websites?

To avoid the accidental highlight on the sensitive places, we disable the Glasp browser extension at some domains such as Google Products (Docs, Gmail, Google Calendar, etc), Note-taking apps (Notion, etc), bank apps, etc.
We have a default list of excluded domains but it doesn't cover the entire web. So please update your own exclude domains from your user page (more)

There are some possibilities in this case:
- Logged into different accounts between extension and web app:
- Please make sure you are signed in to the same account on the browser extension and the web app. If not, please sign out from one, then sign in with the same Google account.
- A good way is to sign out from both web app and browser extension and sign in with the same email address.
- Highlight is not stored in the database properly:
- When you click the selected text on the web, you will see the colored text but in rare cases, it's not successfully stored in the database... (we are addressing this issue) so please make sure when you highlight something on the web, switching tabs or refreshing the page to check if the data is really saved or not. If you refresh the page and you still see the colored text, it means the highlighted data is stored in the database successfully! (more)

Kei Watanabe | Updated March 23, 2022 What problem are we trying to solve?

The problem we are addressing is the isolation of knowledge. If you leave your knowledge, insights, experiences only in personal spaces (e.g. note-taking apps), no one can access them after you die. You might be able to publish your notes just before you die but no one knows when it is. Since collective learning is how humans got smarter across generations, it would be a huge loss for all if we can't access what we have learned throughout our life. (more)
