What was the best part about using Gorkana?
Gorkana’s ambition is to make media professional’s work load easier and they are certainly excelling in doing so. Whether you are a journalist or public relations agent, Gorkana helps to ease your work. It offers neat features like media database – different media all brought together to one place and as it is very well researched, you won’t find just random articles there. Second great feature is media monitoring which is not only handy but well-functioning. Gorkana is also strong in its analytical features and is integrated with social media.
What would you change about your experience with Gorkana?
Their media database seems to cover only UK data which is rather weird and extremely limiting. Also, the pricing is old-school – you have to request one, which makes the purchasing process a bit slow. For me, it also doesn’t build trust as firstly, you will get a sales representative asking different questions from you and then you will be quoted a price – it almost seems like they are scanning for understanding, how much you could afford to invest in the program. It is a rather personal opinion but nevertheless, it was a bit disturbing for me.
Overall Feedback
No doubt it is a handy tool for any professional working in media, but it’s biggest downside is having mostly UK based database which limits it’s usage quite extensively. As much as I like their functionality, I simply don’t find the use for it when it is limited to one region. For such investment, I’d like it to broaden my horizons, not limit them. However, it is very personal and therefore I suggest get a trial, find if the tool is helpful for you and then make your decision!
