It depends on the purpose and the size of the business.
i.e. an individual can load and start using a GIS system in a couple of days. A big company will need a whole corporate implementation strategy.
The extent of use of the GIS and the nature of the business has a major influence. For what purpose the business requires the use of GIS ?
If its core business is the management of graphical information then the GIS implementation will require careful introduction and properly designed strategy. (more)
