Our library has a collection of 11,000 volumes, managed by a librarian and two assistants. We use the Ex Libris Alma, but with the particularity to meet the small library needs. The Ex Libris Alma has a simple navigation, a layout that allows better interaction, statistics panel, loans and returns made easily. We believe that recovery needs more material, the release of an online catalog and consultation services, loans, reservations, and renewals, were the main reasons for purchasing the software.

I think the Ex Libris Alma a great alternative to libraries and school collections because it fulfills the function in collection management, is modern and easy to use, visually attractive for young people, and offers key services online. Ex Libris Alma is the software that manages all library data, everything goes through him, from our information to the students how many of them for us.

I would like to see a feature added to the roles area of the configuration to allow certified Alma administrators to add or remove various privileges for each role and the ability to hide the configuration view or parts of the configuration view that certain staff members do not have access to. We have student workers, that we do not want messing with certain things and we have staff members upset over not being able to do configurations. It would also be nice to give certain configurations to certain staff members such as calendars and letter wording; however, other configurations need to be restricted to certified Alma Administrators.

I hate to admit it, but I love Alma. It's so much better than our previous system and easier for me to work.

My library is in the transition phase from one ILMS system to Alma. The best part of Alma so far has been the implementation team and others from Alma. The system itself hasn't been fully implemented yet (next week!).

The library was supposed to go live today but that's been postponed because data migration from our current ILMS to Alma has had many errors. Contrary to adverts, it is not a very intuitive program and users will have a difficult time figuring this system out. ExLibris has training videos and online help but libraries getting into Alma should do their staff right by having lots and lots of hands on training as well.

Unlike the previous 5 reviewers (who were given incentives for their glowing reviews which are obviously from shills who have never USED an ILMS at all, let alone actually used Alma), I am a real user of Alma. Sad.

Well, truth be told: I cannot find anything really wrong with Ex Libris Alma. I mean, maybe when transition is made some part of the staff could need more training and help than others. This is a real professional tool.
