What was the best part about using dotmailer?
DotMailer is a powerful email marketing platform solution. The best feature is the drag and drop campaign editor which is very easy to use to create complex email marketing campaigns. It's like a mind mapping software with email marketing functionality built in. There are a lot of good integrations available for DotMailer which makes this a highly flexible software for various purposes. There are too many to list but a few include Facebook, Wordpress, Drupal, LinkedIn, Gmail, Google Analytics, Magento, Insightly, Zoho and quite a few others. I like the extensibility available with this software platform.
You can create, send email and track them. The emails can be personalized which is an important feature. I like the ease of importing contacts which you can do in a number of different ways. Emails can be segmented to create targeted lists for specific marketing purposes. Everything is automated when sending emails. The drag and drop email campaign editor allows you to create complex email marketing funnels by using triggered actions which creates dynamic possibilities for your campaigns, by allowing the criteria selected by the subscriber determine which sequence of automated emails will follow up with them. This targeting can all be tracked and analyzed too, so you're constantly learning which marketing efforts to scale up and which to abandon. You can setup DotMailer to track ecommerce to including website and customer purchase behavior which is incredibly powerful functionality that can boost ROI.
The email editor is very easy to use. I was able to create and run a successful test campaign in under three minutes. The account and user dashboard are very well setup and I find everything to be very clean and straightforward to learn and use. There would be no significant issue when onboarding an entire team because the learning curve is minimized which is nice considering the complexity possible and functionality at hand.
I like that you can test email campaigns too, because you can use their spam checker to ensure inbox delivery before your official launch. The software is setup well to be responsive and adaptable on all mobile devices. The knowledge base available is very thorough and I appreciate the whitepapers especially but there's a forum community and webinar or seminar based events if that's your thing.
What would you change about your experience with dotmailer?
The pricing is not available on the website making it the only email marketing service I've tested recently which does not include this. I've read a minimum one year contract is required to use this software as a service. The free trial is a nice option to learn more before calling them for a pitch and a price quote. Though I've read it's pricing that may suit mid-size to large businesses best.
If you're a thriving small business or stable mid-size to large company with a list you could justify a greater cost to use this platform because the ROI could be potentially huge. I'll consider this once my company grows but for now I'm better for knowing how well it's developed and appreciate the trial.
Overall Feedback
I like that you can do so much from one central dashboard based around the core of online business; email marketing. The integrations possible with this platform would make it an appealing option for many businesses. The UI is super simple to learn and very intuitive even to setup quite complex marketing sequences with conditional logic integrated into them. You can utilize quite a lot of automation, send surveys, build landing pages with pre-made templates that load fast and look professional, schedule events as well as do transactional marketing meaning you can close deals and get paid via invoicing through this platform. My only reservation is the pricing and the contract you're locked into for at least a year.
