Apttus CPQ

Apttus CPQ being native to salesforce allowed us to leverage skills we already had in house. The product and pricing methodologies have allowed us to push the adminsitration of those processes closer to end users. This has given us tremendous flexibility and responsiveness to changing markets. Conceptually it's a fantastic idea and much easier that creating excel proposals.

After creating the quote you have to click reprice and then finalize and the larger the quote the longer it takes to download which can consume a lot time. A key challenge is in ensuring the customer data fed in to the system is correct. This could be an internal issue though . The rigidity in making modifications to quotes and the time it takes to input any pricing differences..also the integration with Salesforce is quirky too.

Document requirements in detail and test heavily. Some of the administrative functions are not very easy to grasp and there are many pieces that have to be remembered. I wish that Apttus had an Admin 101 certification and an Admin 201 certification like Salesforce does. Match your business processes to out of the box functionality of Apttus CPQ.
