Yammer

I learned about Yammer from one of my clients. As a Fortune 1000 company, they automatically signed up all their contractors and employees on Yammer. I liked it enough that I signed up my company for it and it worked great. I quickly realized that it's great for small businesses and a nuisance for larger corporations. For my company, it allowed the team to have an internal social network, kind of like a Facebook for all my employees. That was kind of awesome (for me) but not sure if everyone else liked it as much. I do feel that it allowed us to have group conversations very easily as we were usually remote but that may have been the extent of it.

I always have trouble logging in to Yammer I am not sure if that has to do with our internal network or if its a problem with yammer. In addition, yammer has limited public exposure so we don't get the utilization that we would have liked to see by having our people logging on to yammer on a frequent basis. Yammer can step up their marketing to that employees know that it exists so that we do not have to go at it alone to educate our people on the use of Yammer.

This is a great collaboration tool! Basically I chose Yammer because the basic plan is free and I wanted my social media team to talk more about work and their projects. And it worked... Now they use Yammer to post micro-blogging messages and I think the overall collaboration got better. It´s fun!
