UltiPro

No charge for off-cycle payrolls. That is really all I can think of because there is nothing good about UltiPro.

I would have never have chosen UltiPro as our payroll provider. Horrible system and I would change so much about it.

Where do I begin? The sales pitch makes the system sounds WONDERFUL and customizable. This is the farthest thing from the truth. The list of negatives is huge. We have been with UltiPro for 4 months and have hated every minute of it. First - if you have Canadian payroll, run fast away from UltiPro. You will be responsible for doing alot yourself, which if you came from a company like ADP you will be sadly surprised. To begin, you will be submitting the ROEs yourself and uploading year end files to CRA (ADP submitted my ROES electronically for me and of course took care of the YE filings). The banking process for Canadian direct deposits is a nightmare - very archaic. Second - if you pay 1099s/contractors through payroll, you will want to also run fast away from UltiPro. They claim they can handle them, but their system is not designed for anything other than W-2 employees. Third - It is RIDICULOUS that we have to enter in state tax information for states that don't even have it (ie Florida, Washington, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Texas, etc). WHY is their system even setup this way!? Fourth - Implementation was a JOKE. When deciding on a payroll provider, we looked at ADP, Paychex, and UltiPro. The implementation cost of UltiPro was almost 3x the amount of the other two. We justified it as "it must cost a lot to customize the system to our needs". WRONG! This is one of the most RIGID systems I have used. Sure - you can change the name of some fields, but be warned - when you go to report off of those fields, it will only show the original field name. Our Implementation Specialist was rude and condescending. The mistakes made by her were huge, even after WE provider her the CORRECT information. 4 months later and we are still cleaning up her errors. Fifth - Don't be fooled by their reporting. The sales pitch will make it sound wonderful. Be warned that they charge you to create reports at a cost of $1250. When we inquired about some specific reports, we were told they were "too difficult/complex" for us to create on our own so they would have to build the reports (of course, with a $1250 price tag). the information we were asking for was NOT complex. Their reporting is such a fumbled mess that it is difficult to even find the "hire date" field to pull into a report. I could keep going, but the above should provide enough to make someone reconsider UltiPro.
