The collection of courses is great and the search allows you to most of the times try a course for free before you buy it. Also even after you buy the course, you can return it if you are not satisfied. Hence, very user friendly. Udemy interface is also well suited for learning with lessons, notes, videos and discussions.

Other than some of the top courses, other courses get mixed reviews and probably not enough audience. Hence, you are not able to form groups or learn well. Some of the instructors also stop responding for a while. The courses come at a wide price range and some courses are at some times almost a $100 more than other times. You need to time your course buying for a lean period or a discount period.
