Twitter Counter

The main quality about Twitter is that users have access to anything and everything. Twitter is a very prominent tool in today's media world and virtually everyone in the world is on there. Because of this, users have access to almost anything they want... news outlets, companies, celebrities, friends and family. Twitter users can read the thoughts and updates of nearly anyone (or any organization/company in the world) in an instant. One of the strengths of Twitter is that users don't need to know each other to follow each other socially (as is the socially-acceptable unwritten rule for Facebook). Celebrities and major companies and organizations provide their information to all who want to see it. Their material can instantly appear on any users page with the click of a button ("Follow") .... without the wait time in waiting to be accepted.

I don't like this part but still I want to let know that I dislike the 140 character limit... this issue is particularly prominent when sharing articles with long titles. The ability to compress web links is definitely helpful when using Twitter. However, it is hard to remain professional when the 140 character limit drives a user to use colloquial language and short-hand versions of words. A second issue I have found with Twitter is that the promoted advertisements clog up my Twitter Feed a bit more than I would like. I understand that advertising is part of the revenue/profit process... but throwing the advertisements in with my Feed gets in the way of the news content I'm reading.

The primary benefits I have realized is that Twitter has transformed the news world. Twitter provides the ability to read instant updates on various news topics. The tweets provide snippets of information that the user can selectively read. News tweets give headlines and links to the full article. If there is something the user is interested in, they can delve deeper into the issue. If not, the user can easily pass over the post.
