TurboCAD Professional

This is a computer assisted design software I've tried the professional version of recently and it was impressive. There was a great feature set, the user interface is busy but quite well organized. It has toolbars which can be customized and snapped into position wherever you would like them much like Photoshop. It includes powerful tools for adding materials, environments and textures. The editor is good for 2D or 3D designs and includes a snap tool, point marker, color and text editors and much more. The file type compatibility is very good with every standard file type you would ever need. There is a strong educational component and knowledge base in the software and on their site including video on their Youtube channel. There are macros to utilize which speeds up your workflow and is a big time saver. My favorite feature is the house wizard which helps you walk through the steps to creating your own home to your own specifications. This is basically my dream for use of a CAD software so I am thankful to have found this software.

The only thing in my opinion to dislike is not different from any other CAD software in that there is a serious amount of functionality to learn initially. Though this is tied for the easiest to use during my research which says a lot, while it doesn't sacrifice on features or usability in any way. I am also not a fan of icon only menus but I understand the need to have them in a software such as this because it's so feature packed to begin with and labels would make it too cluttered, and not utilize the space available for creating in the best way.

The pricing is fair as well with it's yearly license currently around four hundred dollars USD compared to some of it's competition which were much more expensive. I also found this software much more user friendly than almost every other of the half dozen or so I had the opportunity to try with the exception of SketchUp which was also user friendly though it was about three hundred dollars more for their Pro version and didn't have the house wizard. Overall, this is to be my best choice of CAD program thus far as it helps in the most intuitive way, with the best amount of features at the most affordable price. Highly recommended.
