Skype

Skype is the very first software used by me for video calling. I started using it around 7 years back and from day one I am just loving it. Earlier in my college days, I just used to use it for video chatting with my relatives and friends living abroad. But since I have entered the corporate field I am using it for professional work too. I use it for taking interviews on video calls, video conferencing with my clients and chit-chatting with my friends and relatives. Skype gives you a very good picture and sound quality. Skype also lets you share images and files. Skype to Skype calls are absolutely free but they do charge for calls made on mobile phones. Another good thing about Skype is that they keep coming up with new versions with lots of improvements, new design and many new features.

Though Skype is a widely used software for video calling, but it also has some drawbacks. You need a really very high-speed Internet connection for Skype, otherwise, the video quality is poor. Calls drops are common while using Skype. Sound quality is also sometimes not so good. Sometimes images also take hours. Though all these problems could be due to internet problems but I have also experienced these issues during high-speed Internet connection. Previous / Old chat history is not available. Don't know what is wrong but sometimes you can access the old chats and sometimes not. The ads keep popping up now and then, which is very irritating.

Skype is a very good software for video calling with few bugs. If the sound quality and video quality is improved, it would be the best software for video calling purpose. But as a free software one can ignore such bugs. It could be made a lightweight application as it covers a huge space in my phone memory. I will rate this software 9 out of 10.
