For any product or service, it’s an achievement if it’s used as verb rather than just name. i.e google it, Skype me in evening. Skype has made it possible with its wild spread network all over the world, recently with windows and Skype inbuilt integration has helped it a lot. We can easily connect to anyone, anytime, unlike other software or apps in which we first need to instruct other person to install or download any particular software. Other benefits are cheap call rates, good user interface, good video quality along with group calling facility, facility to show your status, etc.

I found fowling limitation: - 1) Size of the mobile app is little big compared to other apps like Tango, IMO, Fring, etc. 2) Should use mobile number instead of E-mail Id for login, further it may extend its link with E-mail Id, as people have multiple accounts and my forget which Id they had used for signing up if they use after long time. 3) Tedious Password Policy. 4) Voice and Video lags little bit.

For Video calling there are many good software and apps which you are available but I would suggest you to start trying with Skype as I would satisfy and save your time in app hunting! I wouldn’t recommend it ideal for chatting purpose but it’s definitely best for video calling from the several VOIP software which I have used.
