The best part about using skype is the number of functions it has to provide, not only do I enjoy its instant messaging service but things like file transfer, voice chat and video calling are also essential in modern world. No wonder skype is the best combination out there that provides all these services at one place. And not to forget that skype has not only established itself over platforms like windows but it also realizes the importance of being available to daily user via daily use devices like mobiles and tablets etc. As a daily user of skype, I must say that it is the most essential thing in my mobile and laptop after the web browser. The easy to use and user friendly interface of it adds extra charm to it. I like how simplistic yet powerful it is. You can update your status anytime to show your availability, set up a status on your current profile, call anyone anytime without any worry of charges etc, send pictures or files etc by simply dragging them onto skype and much more!

Though most of my experience with Skype went outstanding, a few problems of it bugged me too. For example, not able to hide the skype bar in my toolbar can be annoying at times. Also it keeps showing all the time users that come online on skype via popups on desktop, even if it is someone you don’t usually chat with. Another thing with skype is that some features require you to buy skype credit even though you can do those things over other software without any charges. So if skype really wants to be the best out there, they should reconsider their packages. Another annoying thing is the video ads that start playing sometimes when you are in the middle of something, nobody likes to take a break, minimize, go over skype and stop the ad every time!

What I can summarize about skype is that it is an easy to use software for a person who is new to this or not seeking much with digital communications. However, in order to use skype as the main communication software, it is necessary to have a good internet connection unlike other software where the data usage is minimal and your message can be saved to send to the receiver later. But in any case, it is a must have software primarily because of its excellent voice and video call quality. Especially if you are looking to maintain small or medium level business communication or working as a freelancer. So I would definitely recommend skype!
