What was the best part about using Sketchup?
With SketchUp the key is ’simplicity’. Actually, the program is so easy to use, even a 10-year-old could themselves as a professional architecture master. Just drag the shapes you want, drop them on the canvas and start pulling shapes to the sizes you wish to have. SketchUp uses point and click system so you don’t need any special skills to design there. SketchUp was my first architectural program ever and was an amazing learning point. Though it is very simple, you can still create beautiful designs there and I know professionals who still use SketchUp as their main designing platform. By the way, it has a free educational-use version – so you can learn it for free!
What would you change about your experience with Sketchup?
Though there are many professionals who use SketchUp, it might be not challenging enough. Also, when I first began, it’s interface was a little confusing, not to even mention my dissatisfaction when I realized, if I want any cool components, I have to pay a pretty decent price for extras. For beginning though, I couldn’t imagine a better software to use.
Overall Feedback
SketchUp is simple and very easy to use, doesn’t need any special skills for starting and everyone can master it. It can be used for professional work at the same level of professionality as with any other program – and it is still widely used by big studios as well. It comes with a free, educational version too, which makes it possible to learn architecture and 3D designing with ease.
