Rhinoceros

Rhinoceros is a cool 3D modeling software for designers which is a relatively cost effective option in their market. I've been heavily into art and design basically with all of my free time lately so it's great to have a fully functional trial for ninety days to download, install and use in exchange for your email address. I thought to share my review and it's positive overall this is a really cool program which allowed me to consider 3D design intuitively as someone starting out in 3D. I'm an artist and paint digitally but have always been curious about how to take the next step. I've reviewed a few other 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, DataCAD, SketchUP, Inventor and others I believe. I understand they are for different purposes but I wanted to get a feel for the intuitive nature of each 3D software overall. While all are professional applications AutoCAD and DataCAD were the most configurable and customizable making them each the most challenging to learn with a massive learning curve relative to the functionality you want enabled in your design. I found DataCAD to be slightly easier than AutoCAD. SketchUp is perhaps the most intuitive to use right out of the box in that it feels most facilitates creativity based on the user interface and overall look and feel. But I much prefer a couple of features in Rhino which make it totally awesome. You tab menu is well laid out and includes the systematic components you want to take your design from start to finish. I also like the quadrant based view which contains the front, right, top and perspective views which is a very useful and highly visual way to track your design which is great. But you can also enable a wide variety of different views for each quadrant. This makes the overall visual design aspect enjoyable to work with and easy to manage through from design to rendering. There's an active, dedicated community for Rhinoceros so you can get help freely either from regular users and developers too which is fantastic because there's so much you can do on your own to keep learning Rhino. There's a lot of functionality available and none of it impossibly complex but it takes learning the correct steps in the software itself in order to get to the rendering and building.

As much as I really how well the software is in terms of having organized menus and a clear view of your entire project at a glance, especially in four views; it creates the possibility of errors along the lines accidentally creating aspects your don't need. In terms of learning from a beginners point of view it's a great choice to download and utilize if you're a student or wanting to get an overall feel for a highly flexible professional modeling software but it may not be the most practical choice if you're wanting a particular design done quickly. You should plan for a good time investment in order to get it done in Rhino though you'll probably enjoy the process because it's a cool software to use.

This is a very flexible in the sense you can pretty much create parts in any way you can think. I also like you can input and output many different file types which make it very compatible so that's terrific because in that you can output to 3D printers which can take care of the rest. I like the highly visual user interface that is relatively easy to begin using quickly as well. It's a powerful program and you're going to invest a lot of time in order to master it's full potential though it's an enjoyable curve because everything is incredibly well organized and laid out which minimizes the learning curve as much as possible and enables you to create a productive, efficient workflow. The price is quite reasonable for under a thousand bucks making it less costly than others on the market. I like that the free trial is ninety days rather than the typical thirty so you can evaluate it yourself and see it's full value without limitation. I definitely recommend checking it out in your research into the best 3D modeling software for you.
