LIKE Redis is a freely available open source database with in-memory data storage along with caching and a messing broker. There are a good variety of data structures available which is one of the strongest features about Redis. You have stored sets with ranged queries, hyperlogs, geospatial indexing, lists, sets, hashes, strings, bitmaps and radius queries as well which is great. You can create has tables which make it run more like Mongo, for example. Or build and track sets for a multitude of uses. You also have replication built into Redis along with transaction with varied levels of persistence on disk which is great for partitioning. You also have addition scripting and evictions functionality which is good. It's a relatively easy setup actually. There are interactive tutorials which go a long way to helping educate you as you're getting started which is awesome. The memory management is very robust and easy to use while the possibilities for using Redis are virtually unlimited though perhaps scoring data and tracking is one of the best. And you can do a lot right out of the box as well which is great and beside the data structures is another solid reason to give it a shot. I like that you can work with the in-memory database easily to set or alter variables and close it without having to commit until you do so explicitly making it pretty fast compared to MySQL and often other standard benchmarks. I like that you can set variables to time out as well which is great for caching and in other ways. The in-memory capabilities in Redis allow it to perform really fast compared to other systems which need to write all of your changes first. And there is no difference in the speed of which it performs read or write operations because it is a singular process that is single threaded and you notice it in the overall performance and speed of the software. The variables are easy enough to pick up in a couple of days while you can run several commands at once and get your read in return so that's good. And the ability to install on remote machines your original configuration is great and makes this a very fast, powerful solution for the right purposes.

The ability to search with keys or value is limited or challenging to utilize in instances for example when you want to gather all of the sets with a certain value at once but there must be mapping done initially so this works smoothly. Therefore it may not replace MySQL or other databases you are currently using but there is a good reason to use it for it's flexibility with data structures. I've read the clusterization is still quite young and doesn't have the configuration of other solutions though haven't utilized this yet. There are other platforms which can integrate with Redis so it might be an idea to survey the market to see if that would suit your company better rather than have this at the core of your operation.

Overall, the documentation is one of the things which separate this database from quite a few others, especially open source options which tend to have their documentation quite scattered about. Or honestly, sometimes best found on individual forum threads with nothing to do with the actual documentation. Though this area could always be improved simply because the software is so versatile there could be more in depth case study examples and additional documentation for installation or configuring your system perhaps. The asynchronous task management possibilities are very good you can do so across instances on the same machine or across multiple machines as well without a lot of setup and configuration needing done. And you can't beat the price tag if you have enough savvy to install and configure it relatively quickly it's a great option.
