PTC Creo Parametric

PTC Creo Parametric is a computer assisted design software with a free trial download you can try out before investing. I like that's it's so robust with it's overall features and functionality. The 3D modeling is great along with the assembly modeling. It's good to see you're paying for high quality documentation included with your investment as there is a significant learning curve to the software. I like that they have a university course offering as well which is an additional investment though to be expected and nice to have the option minimize your learning curve this way. The modeling and sketching seem to work quite a lot differently than other CAD software I have looked into recently so while I quite like it this is going to take some time to adjust to. The surfacing is very good with lots of freestyle and technical options. Modeling sheetmetal can become quite efficient with practice especially by getting to know keyboard shortcuts. It's great you can work with all sorts of non-PTC data so you can export to a lot of other computer assisted design softwares which is great, so you can include anyone qualified on your team whether they prefer this CAD, or not. You can import someone else's work from another CAD as well and use the enhanced features in PTC Creo to enhance the final product. There are a lot of libraries of parts, tools and other features available which is great and definitely a time saver. Though they do not come cheap, I've read that packages can run around ten thousand dollars or so, though I've read about some which are free too, so that helps. And I like the focus on the visual nature of PTC Creo. It seems to allow you to focus on your design rather than the steps otherwise in between. The user interface itself is relatively well setup and there's a lot of customization possible. The use of space is very good. There's a lot of information but it's quite straightforward to navigate and fairly intuitive to take your next steps. I like the UI quite a lot more than AutoCAD but less than some others which are quite a lot simpler overall though. The ability to access this software from anywhere is online is terrific. It can truly become collaborative with remote teams able to work remotely in real time.

The pricing is a significant deterrent unfortunately for most people as I believe it is at least five thousand dollars USD to get started though it's tough to track down exact current pricing online which is fine it was a ballpark figure I was looking for in order to rule it out if was too much, which it is for my purposes. The learning curve is very large and as someone relatively new to CAD software that's not the best thing. My goal is to design my home over the next few years and I'm testing a wide variety of CAD software in order to determine various levels of ease of use and learn what is possible. This is the most complex considering the rich features and robust functionality along with the difference in completing sketches and modeling versus AutoCAD versions. And that's saying a lot considering how massively complex AutoCAD is as well.

One of the best features in my opinion is how PTC Creo Parametric will update your entire assembly if you make a change to one of the parts. This is certainly more sophisticated than I have seen in other CAD softwares recently and that predictive automation is very powerful and time saving as well. It's not an affordable option for most including myself at the moment though would be a dream for professional to use I am certain. I am thankful to have had a trial while doing research into CAD softwares in general. There's so much possible in PTC Creo it's astonishing. The ability to work so easily with other CAD systems is one of the reasons it would be a great choice, though personally I'll be using something much simpler for my design.
