ProcessMaker

I started using ProcessMaker in a previous job. The ease of use both in terms of process design as well as process execution allowed us to deliver solutions to internal and customer facing needs in a timely fashion. Design works with simple drag and drop components both for process flow as well as forms. Output documents can be easily generated by means of customizable HTML templates. Execution has a simple, email-like user experience. In addition, for certain types of tasks, users can participate in workflows right from their email's inbox, no need to login to ProcessMaker. I have loved the product so much that I switched jobs, and currently work for ProcessMaker.

We experienced no major issues, and support was there to help us when required. If you are out of budget or trying to convince management of the advantages of using BPM, you can start with the Community Edition. Once you deliver examples of working processes (and I can assure you it won't take long), I am sure you will be swamped with requests to automate more and more stuff, and management will be more than happy to upgrade you to an Enterprise subscription.

If you are looking to automate your processes and don't want to embark yourself in an expensive, riskful and multi-year project with one of the "big" vendors, ProcessMaker the right for you. You will find you can have your first processes up and running on a matter of days. Even more complex processes rarely take more than a couple of months.
