PayPal's capacity to resolve issues

I made an order through AliExpress and the item had defects. I requested PayPal to help out but the information they gave me is what I already knew; I had to return the item. The problem was that I had to pay around 8 euros to return it! When I requested PayPal to help out to this issue, they basically said there was nothing they could do and when I requested they try to help out in some way, they just simply stopped responding to my messages. I have had to pay extra when i opted to use PayPal as my payment method. I always thought this was an acceptable extra charge because I would be covered by someone I trusted but I was wrong. They are just like all the others and I might as well just use my credit card since they will offer the same protection as PayPal so why add on an extra charge for nothing.
