Oracle Database

The product has great analytic capabilities having lots of potent addition of SQL language with the inclusion of pattern matching and modelling. Depending on how often data is accessed, Oracle can compress data on one’s disk. Multiversion Concurrency Control which is now an industry standard and was actually initiated by Oracle.

What I did not like about Oracle database is the cost. The product is costly to administer. The support services rendered to customers are poor and may even at times not be available. So as to locate a problem efficiently, there is no way to debug the codes and this poses a technical problem.

In my opinion, the capabilities of the application ranging from recovery and backup, performance tuning, query optimization and database consolidation are what make the product nearly indispensable and quite impressive. The new pluggable database feature of the Oracle database reduces the consolidation risk. Despite the high costs, the product does prove to be invaluable as it is one of the best database solutions around. The product works reasonably well, offering impeccable results and has a wide range of application.
