Old City Press & Co.

Old City Press is a web design company which was referred to me by a credible source so I thought to learn what made them different than the others in their industry which were also recommended and top rated. I liked their design for starters it's very elegant and fast loading. The use of space was excellent and there was a decent amount of valuable content available for prospects to help gauge their authority, quality and relevance against their competitors comparatively speaking. I liked their web design portfolio. It was very solid and professional all around. They had a cool business model with a brick and mortar storefront. And were unique in that they specialize in old school printing practices but create unique designs for personal stationary and business cards in addition to web design. They had a special knowledge of Wordpress and ecommerce which is our current setup so I had contacted them for a quote in regards to our custom project.

I didn't see accreditation by the Better Business Bureau which helps create more transparency for prospects. There seems to be a clear lack of this in this industry and related industries though I don't see the reason for the fear of negative reviews, because it's treated with much more respect than Yelp or other online review sites, for example. I've been doing a lot of research into business software and services for our start up and only a relative few take advantage of it, while only perhaps one in one hundred had a negative complaint. And if they do but it's resolved it's as good as never happened in my opinion.

Despite not having a rating in the BBB I was confident based on most of my other presales criteria that this company can deliver, so I had included them in the running for our project. However, I don't think they actually followed my request for more information. And around this time I purchased a new smartphone and recall mistakenly deleting three voicemails so if this one of them I apologize. There was an automated email sent with a single line asking 'What can we help you with?' but I had sent the project details in their submit form which is available when you scroll down this same email. So there was a bit of a disconnect between prospect and company in my opinion. I didn't feel the need to repeat what I had already submitted as I had received several other responses offering good value in terms of pricing or an opportunity to connect in person. Nevertheless, I do believe this is a legitimate company and hope this review helps others wanting to narrow down their options.
