NetBeans

I like that it has drag and drop technology which just makes life easier. There are components you can use to drop in to build your interface which is very cool like text boxes and buttons. This feature I don`t believe is available in several other IDE`s I have tried recently. I love the auto-complete function in any IDE or editor and this one in particular is very good and helpful. I look forward to getting all of the shortcuts in order to become proficient with it. Having researched several dozen business software which were from relatively unfamiliar industries such as IDE`s and CAD software for example, have now become sources of inspiration. I wanted Java and because of the approach it allows me to learn on my own very efficiently while open source communities are great for accessing a bit of help when you need it. So I`ve downloaded the JDK and installed it as well as this IDE and plan to practice and create my first Java with it. I am sure it will be very simple but to have the opportunity to do so for free is awesome and I don`t take it for granted. As a professional in sales and marketing I have empowered myself to understand root structures and major aspects of a few languages in order to communicate my needs to the developer for my projects and for client projects as well. But just by diving into IDE`s such as Eclipse, NetBeans, CodeEnvy, Hbase and several others with different purposes as well but it`s easier to recognize those which are more intuitive than others judging them all by how easy a relative newbie can move forward with a project. I`ve experienced the desire to want to code beyond HTML and CSS several times in the past and now that I can see how to improve various softwares in the market having directly experienced almost four hundred in the last two months has me want to turn my ideas into realities. And be more hands on in the process even if I end up passing off the project to full time experts in the near future. I am going to empower myself and team via open source IDE's including NetBeans and get started on something awesome. This will bring down the overall development cost ultimately as I will pass off the project with the best timing in order to ensure efficient speed to market.

There is definitely a learning curve for several elements of this IDE such as some of the advanced tools. It's not all drag and drop by any means, so if you're reading what I wrote above the ease of use is nice, but it's relative to other IDE's which are all massively complex integrated systems to begin with, so if you're looking for an easy mobile app builder or software creator there are far simpler out there, even though they may not grant you access to the source code, and will have a monthly recurring fee most likely some of them are awesome. I am interested in developing a full blown software as a service and integrating several API's into it, so I am aware of the challenge ahead but feel NetBeans is one of the best tools to take on the journey. The installation process is a bit of a task. It's not an extremely couple of downloads coming in around one gigabyte or so for the full set of languages and JDK.

NetBeans is an open source integrated development environment freely available to anyone for download and use. I am honestly looking forward to getting the keyboard shortcuts down as soon as possible because they are a key to learning the fastest way to code using this software and learn the program directly at the same time. I can't recommend this methodology high enough at least as an amateur approach to learning any new software. Search Google images 'keyboard shortcuts' and the name of your software in order to find great graphics which summarize all of the keyboard shortcuts in one image. Paste that as your screen background for a couple weeks, or keep it handy however else you'd like but referring to it constantly during the initial learning phase of any new software will decrease your learning curve and minimize the time it takes to setup your most efficient workflow simultaneously.
