MicroStation

I have found Microstation to be one of the easier designing tools when it comes to CAD. It usually very easy to find the tools you are looking for. As I use the program I also find the ability to adjust my levels to do what I need them to do amazing. The ability to print a level a certain color or thicker is far superior to that of AutoCAD and other CAD programs I have used.

Level priority / draw order is far too complex. There is a hidden "bring to front" command, but there is no equivalent "send to back", so hatches must be created in a separate model. Draw order is dependent on too many things (i.e. pentable, element elevation, and update sequence. Lack of key in commands, similar to Autocad. Shortcuts in particular are lacking our non logical. The buttons are not necessarily logically labeled therefore you end up searching for tools a lot.

I like the tool based approach of Mircostation. Also, like the file reference tool (which also allows editing of the reference files), snapping tool and level manager. I also like the geographic tool where you can create the kmz file and see the project on google earth. It is very helpful for the design work on the highway projects.
