What was the best part about using Microsoft Power BI?
Microsoft Power BI is a cool business intelligence platform with a great free plan and a Pro plan when you are ready to upgrade. It was very easy to connect and get going with this platform. I find the user interface and dashboard to be very use friendly and easy to use. There are multiple way to integrate data as well and it's all fully functional in the free version. Who knew?
You can view analytics in real time when you integrate your database directly which is very cool. You can also import data from spreadsheets and other files. And if you're an Excel user with some experience you will really like this as it has a familiar feel. This
The native integrations for Power BI are excellent as well. I am tempted to list them here but there are too many. The highlights for me included MailChimp, Twilio, OneDrive and Google Analytics but there are a couple dozen more at least which is great. You can also sync to your Azure cloud instance which makes it possible to integrate your deployed app data into it and gain this business intelligence as well.
I have recently begun as marketing director for a new start up which has gained some traction with some amazing growth to occur this year due to a new partnership so I have recently integrated webmaster tools, Google analytics, Wordpress.com analytics, Sidekick by Hubspot, Statcounter and now we will add MixPanel and Microsoft Power BI because I am very interested in cross referencing all of this information in order to learn as much as possible about our target audience naturally, but also more about how they compare in terms of accuracy in which category and so on. Should be interesting but what is even better is that all of the analytics, reporting, tracking and business tools I have mentioned are completely free which is truly outstanding. I started this journey into learning about the best possible business intelligence for a start up and now are up to six various tools which will help us to measure growth and I am grateful for it.
The familiarity with Office 365 tools will go a long way for you if you've used these as I've mentioned but it's great the power pivot, sorting and formatting are all similar and that just helps speed up your efficiency and productivity. The UI is a pleasure to use and super easy to navigate your way around. I had my head around the overall functionality possible in my account and had begun using it in under ten minutes which is fantastic.
What would you change about your experience with Microsoft Power BI?
To be honest I am very impressed with the value offered by Microsoft in this case. I often find Business Intelligence tools to be massively expensive comparatively speaking and relatively speaking. For a small business owner anyways, I've surveyed BI tools recently that was almost one thousand dollars dollars per hour to use Whit a fairly regimented and complex system to learn even though the data is great.
Overall Feedback
The most valuable aspect of Power BI is the fact that you are integrating multiple sources of data into a greater set of analytics. So it goes beyond Google Analytics in the sense that it includes it, while you can have your live data and data from spreadsheets too if you need this all at the same time and create meaningful use of the data which can help remove risk and loss in certain areas and help you observe patterns and trends which you can leverage to create opportunities for revenue growth. And the best way to improve something is to measure it which is why even ten dollars USD per month is outstanding value in my opinion. The fact that they include a great free version is kind of mind blowing. This coming from someone who has a real need for it in the long term so the timing of finding it now near the start of the real growth is great, and who reviewed nearly four hundred business related software over the last six weeks or so, in detail. You don't even need a Microsoft account to use this I signed up with our regular business email and logged in seamlessly from there.
