MediaBin

For me MediaBin’s greatest asset is its’ thumbnailing, management with rich media and longer text entries. Compared to many other digital asset management tools, MediaBin provides thumbnails for large image files (like RAW camera files that usually are very hard to find with other similar tools) and is thoroughly capable to search with a lengthier text entry which proves to be very helpful asset.

There are some seldom glitches or lacks that I have found to be somewhat troubling. One of the most head-spinning troubles I have encountered has been the system’s incapability to upload small video files (or duplicate ones). Also it lacks in metadata management as it can’t be bulk edited and there are not really keyboard shortcuts for metadata entry.

MediaBin has its’ ups and downs as from time to time it can be a little confusing with some weird dysfunctions or lacks. As it has great gadgets overall that many similar products don’t have, I find its’ upsides to be greater and therefore, it is definitely worth a try, especially for smaller or mid-sized organizations.
