What was the best part about using McGraw-Hill Connect?
I honestly can't think of a genuine positive for this site. If I was forced, I guess I was able to get through the quizzes and homework (non SmartBook) assignments relatively quickly.
What would you change about your experience with McGraw-Hill Connect?
The entire learning process of this terrible, terrible website. I'm forced to use a learning tool that aggravates me to the point of not being able to focus.
The SmartBook tool has this coach where if you get a certain number of questions wrong, it suggests that you should "go back and read", which makes me want to tell it to go !@!#!# itself.
My method of learning is through the questions it asks and the questions I get wrong. Reading the book does not allow practical application, which is what I try to glean from the flashcards. Getting told I essentially suck for using the learning method that works for me is very disheartening.
There is also no way to turn off the coach, so I'm stuck with these belittling suggestions.
Also, the fact that I'm not allowed to be finished after I answer a certain amount, but after I get a certain amount *right* is absolutely stupid. It should be my prerogative whether I want to be finished and accept a wrong / imcomplete answer. I hate wasting hours and hours answering questions I really don't care about (or only missed one of the multiple correct choices) until I guess the right one.
This site is designed to hand hold slightly less-than-intelligent (or perhaps very young with no life experience) people so they can get their easy A and flood the work force with mediocrity, all while pretending they're getting a quality education.
Also, the generic information that you can literally get the correct answers from Quizlet or CourseHero at any point, because no teacher that uses these modules has ever bothered to be original and ask their own questions.
Overall Feedback
If you are in a class that is using this website / method, be assured that you are going to pass the class with a good grade, and you are going to be pissed off the entire time, while learning absolutely nothing.
Yes, I'm bitter, and yes I don't want to be in school, so please take that into consideration when reading this review.
But if you want my honest opinion, go to a 4 year university where you can get a real education with a real teacher, and be useful to the career field you're choosing. Don't waste your time filling out paperwork for a semester, because that's all you're going to get with this site.
