JabRef

JabRef is an elegant and user intuitive open source reference management software. JabRef supports BibTex which is the most common LaTex format. JabRef is available for Windows Mac OS and Linux as well. The design of the software is very good which makes it very easy to learn and to find entries.

JabRef requires pre-installation for the Java VM prior to its installation. JabRef is missing an online web based version. There is almost nothing to dislike about JabRef since it has everything necessary for a proper reference management. Searching references using keyword works quite well and the JabRef supports various file format including JStor, RIS, INSPEC, Biblioscape, Sixpack, Scifinder and more.

JabRef allows classification of entries and automation download of a full text. JabRef integrated with PDF software like Adobe, and modern web browsers. JabRef can export to multiple formats including RTf, BibTeXML, HTML, LibreOffice and more. JabRef is completely free and it is a great choice to organize references for students, teachers, and researcher. I would recommend JabRef for its functionalities, multiple format support, and the elegant design it has.
