Contextualisation : Working on different tasks on the same development environment makes it easy to lose tracking of with other IDEs. The simple integration of tools like Jira or Git makes context switching absolutely fluid. Code search/completion : Autocomplete capabilities and suggestions are staggering and searches over huge projects are undeniably quick. Unbulkiness : If I'm going to spend most of my time with a tool, I prefer it to be as smooth and easy to use as possible. IntelliJ gives the right tools straight out of the box with no need for dubiously integrated plugins that most of the times will bring you more problems than solutions.

IntelliJ has a slew of editors for other languages though. If you are a polyglot programmer, the initial effort will repay itself for each additional IntelliJ products you use. What's more, a lot of them, including IDEA, have a community edition that might already satisfy your need. Code analysis can be a heavy duty on bigger files. The Community Edition could support at least one application server.

IntelliJ is not bulky like other IDEs. Most of the most used development tools are available and natively integrated into IntelliJ and don't require additional plugins that will slow your development environment down nor your development pace. Usually the main concern about using IntelliJ, for other IDEs' users, is the fact that they are used to lot's of configurations/behaviors/shortcuts. The fact that those familiar tricks are easily adoptable by Intellij with a simple switch on the options, makes it a true alternative.
