Gooddata has a very intuitive data model. This supports the end user community in easily defining reports. From the design and enhancement point of view it is relatively easy to enhance the logical data model The ETL component Cloud connect (based upon open source Clover ETL) is a very intuitive and easy to use visual interface which supports very complex ETL workflows and has solid functionality. The UI model itself supports the definition of dashboards,reports and KPIs is intuitive. It has proved to be effective in quickly bringing up complex reporting with little need for specialized and expensive reporting resources.

I think that Goodata might do a better job in documenting the process of defining "Metrics" (metrics are good data's calculated/derived measures), and perhaps enhancing some of the capabilities. If they had more accessible documentation (not just a huge PDF file) I might discover that the functionality is really there. As it stands it is sometimes had to figure out how to get things done unless consulting an "expert". For the most part most metrics can be defined, however not always. Better documentation and examples/use cases would be helpful.

Figure out what you want to do over a 3 year time frame. Come up with your own criteria or use a consultant considering as a wide variety of criteria. In brief if you think of BI as fulfilling, descriptive, diagnostic, predictive an prescriptive functionalities, I would recommend GD has an excellent solution for descriptive and diagnostic challenges. It is hard to say for predictive or prescriptive. We are still growing into that. Plan to spend money on consulting. Even if you have hour own BI resources, if you want to deploy in the cloud you will need to spend extra for that.
