Edx offers a wide variety of courses, they can go from basic subjects to very specific matters, in Edx science is their thing. You can enroll for online courses at your own pace or maybe with deadlines and dates, which is great if you are just looking for some guidance in a particular matter or if you want to fully focus on your course. There are many prestigious universities behind their courses and this gives its content many trust points.

Although it says “online courses” it does not ask for a specific profile of student, and since people can join courses in any moment before it ends, you need to be very patient and focused on your own learning process not to be distracted with the massive flow of people coming and going.

It is an interesting choice for learning some new skills, especially in the science area. It does not reach the structure or popularity of other web based academies, like Khan or Coursera, but it does have qualified teachers behind the screen, and that makes it a valuable tool. Definitively worth a try!
