What was the best part about using DocuSign?
DocuSign is an electronic document service that provides recipients with a way for parties to sign secure documents and contracts digitally. It could be possibly eliminate paper use in the office with savings on printing, ink & toner and help increase the life of printers.
DocuSign is not the most intuitive digital signature service on the market in my opinion but it is very easy to setup and use. I setups and sent a document within five minutes of logging into my trial account. It really saves time and energy by bringing together multiple steps such as printing, signing, scanning and emailing. Into a simple, hassle free process.
DocuSign will allow sales reps to close deals quicker, rather than have to play phone tag to arrange an in person meeting for signing contracts it's can all be sent online securely, be signed easily and remain legally binding. Admissible in a court of law. That's cool!
The platform is centralized with single home page with your account in a glance. From there you can choose the Document tab or Template tab and drill down into your documents anytime and on any current computer or mobile devices. I like the ability to create document templates and save them. This is a time savings features that is appreciated.
In addition, you can send documents to multiple recipients, utilize data collection and reporting, create custom folders and workflow templates. Saves sales reps time with administrative tasks. More time for sales. It integrates with SalesForce, SFDC, Box.com and others. With $20 plans and up you can brand the DocuSign back-end with your company branding. A complete audit history is available in the DocuSign account which is good to have.
What would you change about your experience with DocuSign?
This marketing automation is such a smart idea and the DocuSign pricing is fair. It's provides tiered plans which include more features which is definitely not the case with other similar services. So DocuSign is smart in targeting growing businesses with comprehensive plan options to match increased prices. The $10 per month basic account is still very useful. But it makes other services with comprehensive plans that scale according to number of account users more appealing for freelancers, small businesses or start ups.
I suppose their would be an educational component to DocuSign for a particular demographic who barely use email, or a computer at all. Certain clients in this lifetime will always be inclined to do things the old fashioned way. In person with a written signature. And that's fine, at least there is another option that is quite simple to understand, and suggest to old school businesses.
It may be difficult to work with other organizations such as governments too. If they only accept paper copies, or scans of paper copies. It's something to consider when starting a new business and working with DocuSign certainly.
The search functionality could be improved to include by envelope ID for example which is integral to the DocuSign transaction. Nor can you search documents based on the content inside them. The template editing is a bit limited. You can drag and drop elements which is great but they don't seem to lock into alignment with any particular margins. They just kind of float until you drop them and hope it's the best placement.
Overall Feedback
You could scale up your business with help from DocuSign to facilitate closing sales deals. Besides closing more deals, the best things about DocuSign are eliminating paper, printing and other time based costs. The overall time and money savings from this aspect alone will cover the monthly costs of a DocuSign paid membership. But there are other similar services on the market that may be a better fit. Either way, it's worth signing up to the free trial to check it out.
