What was the best part about using DocSend?
DocSend is a document email tracking software as a service with a solid free forever plan available as well as paid plans for more overall features and functionality. This software can have a direct impact on your bottom line with it's ability to analyze which person open your sales materials, the pages the read, how long they spent reading each page and quite a lot more. This allows you to tailor your presentations to suit their areas of interest, and potentially close deals faster because of your attention to detail, and the ability to personalize your response according the value the want most.
DocSend allows you to upload documents and other file types and use trackable links which you can share via email, instant message or via social media. There are quite advanced configuration options for your links and you can share with individuals, in a group or with your own custom setting which is great.
DocSend is very mobile friendly and allows you to engage with files from any device that you have an internet connection whether it's your desktop, tablet, smartphone or laptop. There are native integrated mobile apps for both iOS and Apple operating systems which is awesome, so you can have a consistent experience using DocSend from whichever device you're using.
It's a very extensible solution with many different integrations possible through their main six which are Gmail, Outlook, SalesForce, LinkedIn, Zapier and IFTTT. Though withing Zapier and IFTTT there are over three hundred and fifty more integrations possible to sync up seamlessly including MailChimp which is the most obvious feature missing in the sense DocSend doesn't track the emails in which the document resides withing, just the document activity itself. The list goes on and on and it's really impressive and easy to setup your Zap's and ITFFF's in a couple minutes each and most single sync Zap's and all current ITFFF's available in your account for DocSend are currently completely free.
Which is fine as long as you can enable your MailChimp account to capture the email to your list and follow up, as well. And there are several other options for email tracking as well including HubSpot Sidekick which is free and would work great with the Zapier integration to HubSpot CRM which will create a new contact for you for anyone who engages with your documents via DocSend which is awesome.
The alerts and notifications are very strong in DocSend as well. You can setup to receive alerts for a good number of criteria including when a full or partial document has been read, or any particular activity basically which you choose to receive an alert for. And the timeliness of this feature while distracting does allow you to pursue leads when they are currently active while you can analyze their interests quickly to know exactly how to follow up as well which is terrific.
What would you change about your experience with DocSend?
There's not a lot to dislike about this service though it's more of a manual lead generation, or prospecting tool than other options. Though for inbound campaigns it is going to serve your sales team extremely well by allowing reps to follow up with prospects current activity and customize the approach to offer value in terms of exactly what they want by the amount of time spent in certain areas of your sales materials.
Overall Feedback
There are reports that the location of folks engaging your documents can be inaccurate though I haven't experienced this myself as of yet. It would be tough to eliminate the possibility of proxies being used be clients, or perhaps network infrastructure IP and DNS settings which could potentially affect these results which is unfortunate and I recall experiencing with another email tracking service. It didn't impact my bottom line as much as it could for others who rely on this feature especially. Though overall this solution is very robust in what it does and offers solid value in all of it's plans from free through paid. The integrations make it an exceptional service, yet I am more inclined to utilize ReplyApp or Woodpecker for the email features as neither of these are currently available to integrate seamlessly as of yet, and DocSend then to follow up from there once a prospect replies to request the corresponding materials.
