What was the best part about dealing with Customer.io?

Their focus is helping small to mid-size business who use ecommerce to communicate contextual and transactional emails with their customers with emails which can be triggered based on a certain event, and each list segmented based on various criteria specific to each campaign. It supports split testing, messages which are timed according to interval, and utilizes an autoresponder like function to send follow up emails with the analytic tracking to monitor and track results to learn what is working and what is not. The segmentation feature allows data from website visitors, marketing events, and other activity to help locate optimal customers. They provide contact management features which are standard with email marketing software solutions. Segment customers based on various criteria in real time. Accounts come with pre-made email templates available in the content editor. The app includes an email template editor. It's possible to upload templates created externally and customize CSS to further control layout of each template for email campaigns. The email content editor is user friendly and non-buggy. No list management required. You can create email drip campaigns in the app. You can send triggered emails based on marketing events or activities. Utilize analytic reports to track email campaign results. Detailed email campaign tracking data provided in addition to Google Analytics which is great for benchmark comparison of data. A crucial component is A/B split testing to create the best return from campaigns which is fully supported. Also, an important tool for ensuring the perception of email content is valuable for customers which improve deliverability. You can monitor website activity by customers as well. I like that Customer.io enables newsletter to be sent to segments of customers based on data from my website. It will automatically email people based on their actions with our email campaigns. I like the option to create drip campaigns as well as one time emails, and trigger based emails. I like being able to view the entire history of our company and each customer and the ability to send transactional email such as invoicing. And there is an API available for customization of the app with other software.

What would you change about your experience with Customer.io?

Customer.io is well on the way to becoming an industry leader as their platform is simple and easy to use. But there are a number of features based on my research of similar platforms which they can aspire to update in the future. There are not many integrations available to this point other than Google Analytics. Social Media marketing is a feature email marketing platforms seem to be getting on board with more and more. While it may not be the focus of Customer.io it would add value to their software solution. As well as the ability to create online surveys; another feature found in most top email marketing software platforms nowadays. And RSS integrated emails are not currently supported in the app as of yet.

Overall Feedback

Overall Customer.io does a fine job of providing a simple yet powerful email marketing software solution for small to mid-size businesses. They have a number of noteworthy customers currently onboard including ShutterStock, The Economist and Olark. The ability to integrate email marketing with real time data from your website is a powerful feature which differentiates it from other email service providers. Allowing for tracking and analyzing of data based on how customers actually interact on the website. The free trial available is worth giving them the opportunity to see if it will suit your company needs. There is a free trial option with no credit card required for up to two hundred profiles and four hundred emails sent. Plans can be customized to suit various needs of the company with an online calculator available on the site to help create targeted quotes without having to interact with support unless that is your choice.
