What was the best part about using Conga Composer?

Conga Composer is an app that works exclusively within SalesForce to help you create documents in any industry or for any organization. You can create quotes and proposals as well as account plans and invoice or receipts. Being able to utilize digital delivery of invoicing and other documents via eSignature is a huge time saver. Your cost savings includes paper, printing, hardware maintenance costs and time spent printing, scanning, emailing or faxing or delivering it in person. It allow your sales reps to be much more efficient and close deals faster for these reasons. The ability to gather specific data and turn it into readable document is one of the stronger features of Conga Composer. You can use a number of query based functionality to include the right audience and information. And then send documents as I've mentioned and then view analytic charts and reports regarding the document. The company hosts a lot of webinars and there is a solid knowledge base to help. Which is great. Allow me to teach myself, please software companies out there. There is also a Conga University which I have yet to utilize but I like being able to count on additional education if necessary. I was drawn to this Salesforce add-on based on the outstanding reviews of the customer service. I've had no issues yet and no reason to get in touch with them but by and large it's outstanding which is always nice to hear.

What would you change about your experience with Conga Composer?

There's a learning curve to Conga Composer. It's not the most complex program ever or anything but it requires a close attention to detail as it's a bit technical in regards to gathering your data and ensuring fields are accurately identified and so on. I'm not sure if the training involved to get a whole team onboard is the best option or to have one person invested in the training who can take care of this as a priority is the better option as I'm a fairly new user so not quite an expert myself yet. There is a certain level of coding knowledge which goes a long way to help you utilize this app quicker. It could be made a bit easier in my opinion especially when formatting from various file types. Greater bulk options would be cool for completing a bunch of documents all at once. This complexity make the software not very flexible. It's basically enabling you to use a text editor with mail merge code and turn it into a PDF on the fly, but the amount of time it takes to set this up correctly requires testing because the formatting is touchy and it takes practice to become efficient at it. The software is complex enough to consider having a paid expert on board which is another cost to consider. It's not very intuitive in the sense it takes significant time to create your initial documents. So if you can have them made by an expert to start and then re-use these that's for the best. If you're having to create new quotes and proposal formats all of the time you're in for cumbersome job unless you have an expert consulting or getting it done for you. The cost is $180.00 per user, per year but there is a five person minimum which I think is ridiculous. What about the small business with one or two people? Why should they have to overpay just to use your software? Do you not benefit from this market?

Overall Feedback

If you have the ability to use this software efficiently right from the start it has the potential for a big ROI. It allows you to streamline this process if you're technically proficient enough to master the formatting involved and can put that functionality to good use. The final product adds a nice professional touch for a smaller company. But with a five person minimum it's not practical for teams of less than five. And to be honest, perhaps there might be a couple more clicks to enter another service and complete your invoicing but in my recent experience I've found my simpler similar SAAS which are much more intuitive to use. With a free trial I would recommend checking it out to learn more for yourself but keep your options open because if you're invoicing doesn't need to be too complex there are definitely better options out there even though they may not integrate exclusively in SalesForce.
