This well established and regarded course has been presented across the world, most recently to Chevron and to the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. The objective of the course is to educate delegates in the regional controls on petroleum occurrence in West Africa, such that they can then effectively concentrate their own resources in the regions of greatest prospectivity and in their acquired acreage. The course is presented in two parts, the first concentrating on the tectonic, climatic, thermal and paleogeographic development of the region and second on how these factors contrl teh petroleum systems of individual basins, including recent discoveries. Lectures are interspersed with discussions and exercises. The database on which much of the course is also provided in digital form.
