This well established and regarded course has been presented across the world, and most recently to Chevron and to the American Association of Petroleum Geologist. the objective of the course is to educate delegates in the regional controls on petroleum occurrence in West Africa such that they can then effectively concentrate their own resources in the regions of greatest prospectivity and in their acquired acreage. The course is presented in into two parts, the first concentrating on the tectonic, climactic, thermal and paleogeographic development of the region and the second on how these factors control the petroleum systems of individual basins, including recent discoveries. Lectures are interspersed with discussion and exercises. The database on which much of the course is compiled is also provided in digital form.
