On November 22, 2016, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy launched its first Accessibility Forum to bring together private organisations, NGO’s, Government representatives and people with disabilities in Qatar to discuss what needs to be done to ensure a seamless fan experience is delivered for people with disabilities attending the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The goal is to fully transform Doha into a disabled-friendly city by 2020, through projects and initiatives aimed to maximise participation and inclusion of every citizens of the city and to empower this important element that is essential to achieve a fully integrated society.
The Accessibility Forum will act as an independent consultation group that will advise the Supreme Committee and its stakeholders on specific disability requirements in terms of stadiums, hotels and public spaces to ensure the 2022 FIFA World Cup is the most accessible and inclusive tournament ever, leaving a lasting legacy for people with disabilities in the country.
