This webinar will discuss The Importance Establishing a Near Miss Reporting Program in Your Organization.
Why Should You Attend:
Why is it important to develop an Effective Near Miss Program?
Statistics tell us…
- that for every 300 near misses
- there is one serious injury!
Near Misses occur frequently and the only difference between a Near Miss and an Actual Accident is luck! For example, if while I am driving I send a text message, and a truck suddenly appears in front of me, what can happen? I look up in the nick of time, slam on the brakes, and just avoid hitting the truck – a near miss. This same scenario can apply and instead of looking up in the nick of time, I slam into the truck an accident occurs. So what is the difference in these two scenarios? Luck! If I am lucky (a near miss) I avoid an accident, if I am not lucky I get into a serious accident.
What Causes Near Misses?
The same things that cause Accidents cause Near Misses:
- Unsafe Acts
- Unsafe Conditions
- Hurrying & Taking Risks.
By eliminating the Root Causes of Near Misses, you eliminate accidents and help prevent fatalities from occurring.
