This session will provide higher education administrators the tools they need to encourage student services professionals to strategically engage students in an ongoing and proactive manner to achieve institutional enrollment goals. The strategies discussed will help to reduce advisor push-back and resistance to student engagement initiatives and promote advisor engagement and accountability.
Why Should You Attend:
With declining enrollments, institutions are increasingly relying on advisors to engage and retain students. At some institutions, advisors are evaluated on the number of students they contact, the academic success of their students, and the percentage of students retained. Advisors become frustrated that they are being held accountable for factors which are beyond their control and may resist institutional efforts or leave the institution.
In this session, we will discuss some of the common metrics for which advisors are held accountable, and strategies for promoting advisor engagement in meeting institutional goals and objectives. We will explore the concept, “If they don’t believe it, you won’t achieve it.”
