Concur Expense

Concur is an online travel and expense software which makes it possible to track expenses as well as book flights from right inside your dashboard. I've not seen this travel booking feature in other similar expense related software during my research and find it to be unique in the market, so far. You can take a pic of a receipt with your smartphone and upload it to your expense account very easily. This is a huge time saver for traveling reps and managers. If you can sync a corporate credit card it can be super easy to make this work very efficient. Concur is an international expense solution too which is always good news for those of us not in United States. They update the exchange rate, mileage calculations and taxes according to location which instantly adds value to their service. There are over one hundred integrations available for Concur many of which are travel related but also includes further expense

The pricing was not easy to find on their site. It's not available at first glance from my trial account dashboard either. I found it on a software review site which stated this information. And there isn't much documentation or a knowledge base available from your account to learn more in detail on your own. You can view quick tutorials for each of the major components available and you can ask a question to support but that's it. I believe they would find it more efficient to help customer help themselves with regards to using their software for any purpose beyond the basic tutorials they provide by linking directly to the Resources page on their website. I happen to use BookingBuddy to compare air fares because it's a macro based search of airline fare aggregators and gives you all of the possble flights and prices. I'm always surprised at the varied pricing for the same flights on different airlines. I can't ascertain for sure that Concur doesn't have this much power in their search to guarantee the best possible price in the free account I'm testing, but I'm fairly confident it is not. This software also doesn't have time tracking capabilities which would be a feature required by many businesses. I believe the dashboard and user interface could be made cleaner and more straightforward. There are a lot of steps required to be taken in the app when submitting a receipt compared to the competition. The software called Expensify is a good example of what is possible with this type of software application in terms of a minimalist approach and super intuitive user interface. I don't see any integration tabs in my account. You might think that expenses which could be imported into accounting software would be a available to look over to know what's possible from my trial account. Or other app integration possibilities to spark my imagination and help me understand what is possible without having to dig around for it outside the account. I found the Apps section on their website after explorering for a few minutes, which didn't need to be the case in my opinion if it was linked to in your account.

The pricing at $8 per user, per month is very reasonable considering the time, energy and money saved overall by this software. If it's easily adopted by your sales team because they find it easier than a typical manual expensing process than the ROI from this software would be sufficient. The free trial is worth checking out to know if it's the best solution for your business, or at least to consider in terms of what to look for in another software when doing your due diligence to learn the best possible option.
