CodeEnvy is a local or cloud based integrated development environment enabling you to create and deploy applications. The setup is relatively easy compared to others which I've tried generally speaking. I also find CodeEnvy quite easy to understand the process overall much clearer. Your account is not overwhelming in any way even though functionality is really tremendous. The ability to sync up to GitHub is perhaps the strongest feature, if not one of the best features because it is so easy and secure to do. The API is excellent as well as the good amount integrations possible. It's quite seamless to move between files in your project or to other projects and it's quite collaborative as well as anyone can add updates without having to install the software. I like that you have the cloud software as a service option or you can download and install it on your local server depending upon your privacy requirements mostly as it is quite secured in the cloud in my opinion. It's designed with Open Source Eclipse Che technology so you can customize or configure your setup to any level you need it. There's a lot of documentation and support for Eclipse as well and the community is large and helpful. CodeEnvy has decent tutorials available in your account as well which is good. They're quite visual as well which helps. The amount of automation when using CodeEnvy is awesome. It really does a serious amount of work for you and combined with the intuitive nature of the dashboard and your entire account actually, this is about as simple and well designed as it gets in my opinion, so far into my research into similar offers including CodeShip. The Factory feature is pretty cool which allows you to create workspaces from which you can code, build, test and deploy your app as well as share access with others which is great being able to have a remote team working on your project in real time. The editor has code completion which is a good time saving feature and it also has refactoring and syntax highlighting. The Java support is excellent and the free plan is enough functionality to get going and there isn't idle time for the free account which is a strict limitation in other IDE's causing downtime in a live environment so really are best for testing only but that's not the case here which is awesome. You can customize your runtime environment while using Docker which I like and the pre-built environments are good too and a massive time saver. Another reason this solution is easier to use than most.

The ease of use may vary between languages and I wish there was a live case study available for each of them available on their website. Perhaps you could track each of these examples down but that's a bit of a hassle. The ability to use SSH or FTP as the base of your project would be a cool feature to have similar to CodeEverywhere rather than through VM.

Even beginners will find CodeEnvy relatively simple to learn and get started. You can simply select your project and begin working on it, not complex scripts required up front just to enable the functionality. You even have root access in you machine enabling you to make changes on a granular level. And you have access to the entire build lifecycle for validation, compilation, testing, packaging and deployment which his outstanding with API's and app modules create and published along the way. The UI is outstanding and cannot be designed any better in my opinion. It's an open source software created through Eclipse so you have an unlimited amount of configuration possibilities to suit your project. Highly recommended.
