Cisco Unified is first-class communication and collaboration tool which is easy to use and manage. It is scalable solution that offers many features and interfaces well with other VoIP products. The change to Linus has improved CU’s stability and it is particularly effective for companies with staff that require remote or mobile access. The CU web interface is well laid-out and intuitive and additional products collaboration features such as Unity Connection voicemail and Contact Center Express provide a full collaboration service suite.

Cisco UCM is an expensive solution, particularly when it comes to businesses that require assistance with maintenance and interfacing. Prospective buyers would be advised to have some level of in-house expertise to manage this product. Support for UCM can also be lacking with complicated licensing and slow response time although this seems to have improved.

CU is highly recommended for business with a Cisco or Microsoft architecture, in-house technical know-how to manage the solution and for large companies with a remote workforce. It is an expensive solution but integrated with additional Cisco products, it is one of the best tools out there for seamless collaboration.
