What was the best part about using Certify?
Certify provides a travel & expenses manager software which is designed to be accessed globally. I signed up for a trial account to learn more. I like their core feature set. It's comprehensive yet specialized and would save people a lot of time by unifying many prior steps into a seamless process, and by automating the expense report creation.
You can create, update and customize your account expense categories, departments, users and billing inside Certify. The automatic creation of expenses reports is an awesome feature. For example, if you can take a picture of a receipt using your mobile device and upload the photo to Certify; as long as there is relevant keyword in the subject of the email message it will automatically include it in your current report. That's very cool as a time saver. I like being able to use custom fields as well to ensure data and reports are well suited to my company requirements.
Being able to use basically any device with an interconnection to take care of business expensing so easily is definitely a plus. I also like being able to set up reminders to get expense reports reviewed and completed, with good customization within reminders themselves. I also read that Certify will integrate with corporate AMEX directly so that would be awesome. I didn't find this integration possible in my account, or on their website so perhaps it was a custom request using their open API.
What would you change about your experience with Certify?
I have not tested the app on various devices but by a few reports it can crash more than one would like. The account Home overview page could be refined, or presented in a more visually appealing way. It's not possible to see my last receipt title, for example. It requires a click into that area of my account which is fine, but it's not as streamlined as it could be. There could be more options for types of expenses. And I'm not sure this Home page would view well on a smaller screens because it simply does not utilize the space very well viewing from my laptop.
There could be more thorough materials available in the Support area. You can learn enough to get started but anything required beyond the basic setup and management would have to be directed to their support. While I'm confident a lot of these cases could be included in a deeper support area which saves everyone time. One suggestion I agree with is the ability to add multiple attendees to a meal receipt. That would be simple enough to integrate and provide that much more flexibility and accuracy when using Certify to expense meals.
The Home page does not feel very intuitive. The entire account is quite well laid out. I never had any trouble finding any certain aspect. It almost felt like there should be a bit more to it. The capability to have any number of levels of approval would be nice.
Overall Feedback
As someone traveling for business constantly it would be nice to have this app to upload image receipts so quickly. The streamlined workflow possible by integrating with Certify would be truly beneficial.
This solution beats using a spreadsheet, getting them signed off, then attaching receipts and having to deliver it to accounting any day. No more delays with reimbursement with less follow up required. Overall it's a simple, efficient software to use at a reasonable pricing currently starting at $8 per month, and a free trial available to check it out before purchasing.
