Budget Maestro

The built-in reports are pretty nice, that's for sure. I can't say I am a fan or in my perspective it would be a great asset, but I can't deny there are some perks you might like - for instance, the cash flow reports which usually take ages to complete (or at least complete accurately).

Well, they promise to replace Excel but in my perspective they have a long way to go before they can achieve that. The archaic look of the interface takes way more time to comprehend and navigate than you'd be comfortable with, especially if you are an avid spreadsheet fan. For me, it just can't beat the simplicity of Excel - even though manual accounting is in all ways ancient. There are just things you can't replace.

Budget Maestro is a yesterday's news in my book and I can't really put it in a decent category - it's not too shabby, but it isn't QuickBooks, neither is it close to the simplicity of good old spreadsheets. It's somewhere in between and it will really depend on your preference. As there is a demo version, you can try it out but as far as I am concerned, it is not the best one out there.
