Basecamp

Basecamp is a wonderful web-based project-management tool to keep track of development tasks. It was launched in 2004 and the immensely popular 'The Ruby on Rails' software is derived from the Basecamp project. I especially liked the structure of on how to create the wireframes, establish communication with all the stakeholders, the 'to-do' lists. The salient feature is it can also be accessed via mobile applications and the customization is almost seamless.

I think Basecamp is a wonderful project management tool and for it to be a true market leader it can add on the instant messaging feature. Also the search feature is just average in the current version and I expect it to be more robust in the future versions. A few of my colleagues felt that although Basecamp is simply amazing for tracking the project tasks - it still needs to grow by leaps and bounds to be truly called a great project management tool.
