Horrible Company - very poor communication

What was the best part about using Avalara?

The only good part was the promises before you sign a contract. Once signed they required a credit card to charge and start billing you. They are unresponsive to customer support or questions on how they are calculating your invoice. Don't trust any verbal or even written agreement if you don't have the contract modified, they will not follow through unless it is in the contract. They also require you to agree to terms and conditions during your set up that allows them to bill you for work they don't complete.

What would you change about your experience with Avalara?

Never sign a contract with them for sales tax returns. Would make sure every verbal agreement is not only confirmed in writing but that the annual contract is updated before it is signed. They will also try to tell you the annual contract is automatically renewed so make sure you cancel well before the "renewal" date.

Overall Feedback

In less than a year we had 4 "account managers". Customer support will basically just send you a link to a webinar (1 to 2 hours long) but will not take 5 minutes to explain any set up issues.
