Amazon EC2 is infrastructure as a service which makes it possible to use resizable computing power in the cloud online. Some of the biggest companies in the world use it such as Netflix, Lamborghini, Nasa and others so you know it is scalable and reliable which is great. You are able to self manage Amazon EC2 and take advantage of the scalable pricing, which I've seen Amazon lower many times over the years. The user interface is simple enough that you can configure your capacity with lots of control and resources in Amazon. It's also relatively easy to upgrade or downgrade your capacity on the fly and only takes a few minutes to boot up an entire new instance. The beautiful thing about the cloud is that you are only going to pay for what you've actually used so it's as cost effective as possible. I like that Amazon continuously competes with Google to see who can lower prices and improve customer experience. You can't ask for a much better scenario than this because to have some so powerful, reliable, scalable and simple to use empower a lot of entrepreneurs and start ups. You are essentially enabling the best possible, most resilient application by using Amazon EC2 in my opinion, though Google is a great choice too. It's now possible to spot instances for specific duration workloads which is cool. And there upcoming feature will allow you to use your own software licenses and Amazon EC2 on a dedicated host which is awesome. There are always a lot of innovations and upgrades by Amazon and is another reason you can really rely on their cloud computing environment. You are building your app with proven infrastructure and data centers. Netflix gets something like more than twenty five percent of all traffic online and they use Amazon EC2 so that should pretty much sum it up for you. You have root access to all of your instances and it will scale itself up depending upon your configuration with complete access to console output. The instances can all be stopped and started while retaining the data via API so that's good to know. And you can reboot them remotely this way too. While it works with a lot of their other offers such as Amazon S3, Amazon SQS, Amazon Simple DB, Amazon RDS so you have solid range of ways to apply this computing power to your cloud instance. Amazon takes very adequate security measures as well which is another great reason to use a cloud environment for your app. And you have complete access to their ACL controls which allow you to set up permissions for accounts and folders with good control of who has access to which folder or file, what kind of access they have exactly and for how long they have it.

There is most certainly a learning curve to use Amazon EC2 initially and you may likely require an expert to help you get the most out of it. Count on a serious investment initially but the savings will be there down the road as the infrastructure recovers it's cost as you experience growth of traffic to your app.

This is a massively flexible cloud implementation and deployment platform as a service and it works with all of the other essential Amazon tools you need for a complete cloud based application. You can choose your instance based on various types and your operating systems as well as memory configuration so whichever your expert is most familiar or simply the best for your company's growth and future integrations but you have these options which are the main thing. The pricing is always going to be very competitive not only because it is a cloud based pricing model but because they constantly compete with Google to have the lowest pricing and brag about which is great news for users. And that's all you can ask from any company; that they place their foremost priority on their customers and improving our experience. So far Amazon has hit the mark in a big with my ongoing reliable use of Amazon S3 and Amazon EC2 over the last five years at least.
