What was the best part about using Adobe InDesign?

It's great visually based design software specialized around print media. You can embed guides and utilize alignment, proportional and spacing functionality in a wide range of print settings, page layouts, and type settings in an easy to use dashboard especially if you're familiar with other Adobe products already. There are also the same tabs, text frame and master pages options available in the core functions which have been a part of the software since it's initial version. As with any Adobe software, you notice it's complete as they've been refining their software over many years now. There are a lot of consistencies between interfaces and I appreciate how much easier it has become to use Adobe products because I've taken the time to become a solid intermediate level Photoshop user. Though I love the fact you get to keep unlocking multiple cool ways to do things. I've utilized a lot of resources available on their website and from in the software itself. I've turned to their help several hundred times now and this investment has allowed me to carry over the general knowledge of their symbol base as well as how to apply keyboard shortcuts to greatly speed up your process. I'm using shortcuts in all software right out of the gate when learning new. Not all short cuts are required but a good half dozen or more can go a long way to making life simpler. There's packaging feature where you can group all of your tables and images linked and formatted correctly saved into a summarized package that can be recalled anytime you need it in the future including fonts so hunting anything down at all is a non-issue with all of the moving parts involved getting it done becomes very efficient and I can dig it. There's also a huge Adobe community available online so you can ask regular users and experts for help freely most of the time. You can also hire InDesign experts or source do it yourself videos on Youtube which are a great resource to help you discover summaries of useful keyboard and workflow shortcuts. A quick Google search can do the same thing I've found amazing quick summaries of keyboard and workflow shortcuts for software's as I'm about to start using them and it's helped me take the learning curves easier accordingly.

What would you change about your experience with Adobe InDesign?

It would be cool to have an even more seamless use of various tools from their other products such as some of those in Photoshop to be able to take care of saturation and tone, or perhaps some filtering or use some effects. I've it can be glitchy but I have yet to encounter this myself. I've personally had a solid experience with Adobe software.

Overall Feedback

If you need to use images and text together in your design work then InDesign has a ton of options you're going to love. It is much more powerful compared to using a regular text editor to create layouts. You can create a large variety of presentations which can be viewed on basically any projector or screen including your iPad, laptop, television and phone. It's a professional industry used software which allows you to create cool digital presentations but also large board designs, bound books, magazine layouts and much more. I can understand larger companies caring little for the cloud subscription model because it would cost more in the long run as you pay per user. Instead of having multiple users under one license. But for myself as a small business doing solo contract freelance work for the time being this works out great and I'm really enjoying the Creative Cloud application and using multiple Adobe software this easily.
