Adobe Captivate

Adobe Captivate is a useful tool which enables you to create online learning courses very easily which you can share with classes offline or online. When I first opened up the software I was happy that it is so intuitive to use. Everything is well laid out, straightforward and easy to understand. One of the strongest features is the ability to layer things. Such as adding effects and graphics. It works with multiple outputs as well so you're not limited by file type if it is a fairly common type of media you're currently using it's probably going to work just fine in Captivate. I'm pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to learn and the quality possible in it. I like software that facilitates creativity to any degree, and this type of UI and functionality allow for the experience to be as enjoyable as possible. The end results you are able to create can look very complex but in reality, they are a breeze to setup relatively speaking. The ability to manage your progress and work in the timeline easily including audio makes this a powerful software with a lot of control and flexibility. I like how you can produce one learning procedure and then create multiple training outputs from it. That's incredibly creative and productive use of your time. The import feature is pretty cool where you can import multiple formats and use this content rather than have to convert it to a specific proprietary file type or anything like that. And it's quite easy to edit your recordings which is nice. It feels intuitive to learn which is always good.

It's a larger software. The monthly version still has you download an over four gigabyte installation package so it's not fully cloud based but works with your local computer resources. It's simply a huge hassle and waste of time if you're anywhere close to out of hard drive space currently the deal with that first before installing their software. And it is a bit of a process to install this software on your computer so expect to invest a few hours in order to evaluate it, at least. The sound editing is somewhat limiting. I use a professional digital audio workstation software and in comparison it is greatly lacking. It still serves a basic purpose and this much functionality is certainly better than none at all. But more customization and layering of sounds and multiple sound layers using the same simple functionality as the rest of the software would be awesome and really differentiate this type of software in their market according to my research thus far anyways. I've used other Adobe software for years and so perhaps that's why this dashboard seems so intuitive to me. If it's your first Adobe software it may seem a bit overwhelming at first. But allow me to suggest simply going into every single feature right from the start. Take the time to learn the basics. The beauty of this Adobe software in my experience is that they allow you to play while you're learning. So don't feel like you're going to break something. Be proactive and seek out new features and keyboard shortcuts and other ways to create your most efficient workflow because it is possible in Adobe software to get very quick with them and Captivate appears to be similar in that way.

Using Adobe Captivate you can create training for complicated topics, software demos, or experienced based learning based modules so it is versatile in the types of training you can create. While Adobe has a large knowledge base and documentation to help you and a dedicated and supportive community available which is great. There is a $30 US per month plan which is a viable option for just about any organization so you don't have to fork out the $1100 for a license up front which I appreciate. And there is a free trial available so you have no reason not to learn for yourself if what it can do is the best fit for your e-learning needs. There's so much to like about this software and room for some enhancements with the audio perhaps but overall it's a very cool program.
